Journey of the Cornish Fisherman: sea, shells and stories with Alasdair Hoswell
Details: All aboard, adventurers! Join award-winning Cornish children’s author, performer and educator, Alasdair Hoswell, as fisherman Ala-Shore, for an exciting storytelling adventure across Cornwall’s seas on Thursday 13 August, 10am-12pm! Through stories, songs, games and creative activities, children and families will step into the world of Cornish fishing crews and discover what life might have been like setting sail across the sea. Expect interactive storytelling, parachute games, imaginative play, and hands-on arts and crafts inspired by the sea and Cornwall’s fishing heritage. Travel Journals - Summer at Kresen Kernow
Details: Inspired by our current exhibition all about journeys, we are going to be making travel journals this summer at Kresen Kernow, on Tuesday 18 August, 10am-12pm. Learn how to make a simple softback book from scratch, including how to attach pages together using a long arm stapler. Look through old photographs, maps and tickets from train travel in Cornwall and let this inspire you to make a travel journal.
In case you’re wondering, a travel journal is a book you can write any story in that involves a journey, from your daily walk to school or work, travelling to the beach or travelling out of Cornwall. You can take your journal home and fill it with stories of your travels.
This activity is part of our family crafts programme and all ages are welcome. The activity is free and drop-in.
