Storytale Studio - Monthly Family Crafts
Details: Did you know Kresen Kernow is home to the largest collection of books about Cornwall?
From history books to picture books and folk tales we have thousands of books that tell us about Cornwall in the past and the present.
Inspired by stories about Cornwall we are running 12 free family craft sessions, happening once a month during 2026. Explore our library through trails, book displays and family activities. The craft sessions will explore different themes and art techniques, such as puppets and book-making. Before each session we will advertise the different themes for each workshop on here and on our social media. All the sessions will be run by artist and workshop facilitator, Sophie Stanley-Butcher from Pop Up Paint Pot.
All sessions are free, drop-in and for all ages. Crafts will be accessible to babies, children and adults.

Library Invasion with Tom Palmer
Details: Report to your library for a 30 minute action packed talk with best selling author Tom Palmer
These short sessions will give an opportunity for participants to learn about Tom’s journey to becoming an author, find out about his new book, and ask him some questions. He will be accompanied by a member of the central Cornwall Libraries team during every visit. There will be some ‘If the Invader Comes’ posters in delivery that have been given to us by his publishers to use too.

Photo Collage Workshop
Details: For ages 11 to 16. In this photo collage workshop, you’ll dive into the fun world of mixing photos, textures, and colours. This in person session gives you the space to express yourself, create whatever you like, and meet other creatives. Materials will be provided, but you’re welcome to bring your own collage supplies if you prefer.

Make your Mark - Kresen Kernow
Details: Inspired by our current exhibition exploring the history of printing in Cornwall, this playful and slightly messy workshop encourages you to experiment with printmaking. Cornish printers produced books and posters in many distinctive styles—now it’s your turn to discover your own.

The Basement Helston - Open Day
